Do you ever wish to escape the hassles and stress of modern life? The crowds, expense, Facebook. The constant demands on your attention that never lets you rest?
Then the good news is that there is a solution. A place to escape the treadmill that offers the complete opposite. A Ukrainian cottage in its own little world, completely undisturbed by the world outside.
In fact, when we visited the property it brought to mind the words of our famous Ukrainian writer, Nikolai Gogol, who was born not far away just on the other side of the Dnieper. His description of a rural property sums this cottage up so well:
“Extremely secluded life where no desire flies past the palisade surrounding a small courtyard. The life of the modest owners is so quiet, so quiet that forget for a minute and think that passion, desire and restless generation of the evil spirit disturbing the world, does not exist, and you can see them only in a brilliant sparkling dream.”
It doesn’t surprise us that the village around this property is full of escapees from Kiev. It’s a wonderfully peaceful place. The cottage has a large plot of very fertile land of 1,700 m2, that’s nearly half an acre.
The house is of traditional Ukrainian design and extends to 65 m2 which is of two bedroom size and is of brick construction, with wooden flooring. It’s internally lined with oak boarding to help with insulation.
The rooms are spacious and there’s gas and electrical supply. There’s also a classic style stove with rest bench beside. Decor isn’t modern, but that’s not to be expected, especially at the very low price.
The enclosed veranda is an older version of a conservatory, with lots of glass and view over the gardens.
These rural cottages provided a very self sufficient lifestyle to their owners and this is reflected in the 4 outbuildings, summer kitchen and some sheds. For storage of food, there’s a great cellar of 18 sqm which is situated 30m from the house.
The property is nestled in a gentle hollow in the woods and is totally private. It's the last house on the road leading out of the village and the property adjoins extensive woods. It's a beautiful and private location, but not very isolated and if you want to meet people, you'll find the neighbours very friendly. There's no sense of boundary with the property and you can just amble from your front door into the trees to seek out delicious, buttery Chanterelle mushrooms, or pick wild strawberries. Breath the fresh air and realise you are finally relaxing.
And despite being totally peaceful, the property is only 5 km the historic town of Bohuslav, with 4 times daily bus services to the town and the nearest large village. It’s 125km from the capital Kiev, where most buyers in the area come from. The area has interesting historical buildings and natural attractions, which we attach some pictures of here.
What price is this total peace and quiet? Just $8,900.
All papers are in order for the property and we are UAP are here to assist you realise your dream of owning this home. It’s looking for a new owner and that could be you.
