Ryanair Confirms Flights to Ukraine
After long term negotiations, Ryanair has confirmed it plans for a range of low cost flights to Ukraine. At a recent press conference at Boryspil International Airport, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Ryainair CEO Michael O'Leary confirmed the new agreement on March 23rd.
The news was met with much happiness amongst Ukrainians many of whom were angry when negotiations fell through last year. Tickets are now onsale and flights will begin in October and will fly to Boryspil in Kiev and Lviv's Danylo Halytski Airport.
Passengers will have a choice of 32 weekly flights to Kiev from Bratislava, Warsaw, Gdansk, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Vilnius and London Stansted.
Another 14 weekly flights will be available to Lviv airport from Dusseldorf, Stansted, Memmingen, Warsaw and Krakow.
Ryanair is expecting to move 800 thousand travellers from the two Ukrainian cities across Europe. The new agreement, which has taken over 5 years to happen, will open up low cost travel opportunities to many Ukrainians. It comes in good time as the EU has eliminated 90 day visa requirements for Ukrainians travelling to the Schengen zone.
