Ukraine extends quarantine until April 24th
The Ukrainian government has extended the current quarantine period until April 24th in order to limit the spread of covid-19 in the country. The lockdown measures were originally due to end on April 3rd and the government has left the door open for further changes if needed.
New measures are being taken to tackle the virus including indentifying who is infected and isolating them for treatment, disinfecting public spaces and providing enhanved policing.
Ukrainians are only expected to leave their homes to go food shopping or do essential work. The lockdown will cover the Orthodox Easter on April 19th which is traditionally an important holiday in the Orthodox calendar.
On March 25th, the government announced that it was providing support for families that may be struggling financially during the lockdown including discount utility bills for those receiving state benefits. The process for receiving state benefits and unemployment support has also been simplified.
Most flights to and from Ukrainian airports have been cancelled or postponed until after the lockdown has ended. Here at Uaproperty we are advising clients to not make any plans to visit until the quarantine has officially ended and that it is safe to travel from your home country.
To date, four people have died in Ukraine from the virus and there have been a confirmed 117 cases.
