4G Mobile Coverage in Ukraine Improving
Ukraine's leading mobile providers are bidding on new 4G licenses covering more areas of Ukraine. Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell will be submitting bids that are expected to be in the region of 200 million USD to obtain licenses to roll out high speed mobile internet coverage.
Each provider is expected to receive licenses and it is expected that many areas of Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odessa will see full 4G coverage by May of this year.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that "During this year, 60 percent of Ukrainians will receive significantly better mobile internet service, significantly faster."
KyivStar CEO Peter Chernyshov said in a statement "It's the quantity of frequencies which we need for establishing 4G across Ukraine. We have the biggest network with 26.5 million people. Our network was the best and will remain the best."
