A vibrant new flea market that was set up in Kyiv just over a year ago is gaining momentum, quickly becoming a go to fixture on Kyiv's burgeoning "hipster" scene.

Set up by former journalist, Marima Dragina, the market began with just a few stands but now attracts well over a hundred stalls a month. There is live music, Djs and the market has a distinct carnival like atmosphere making a great day out with your friends.

The market offers everything from a wide range of clothes, jewellery, good food and even hair cuts from the trendiest barbers. There is even a kid's section with stalls manned only by children.

Set up by former journalist, Miriam Dragina, the market is a clear sign of the shifting attitude of Ukraine's youth. Whereas a few years ago, trends from Moscow were observed, Kiev is now taking on a distinctly European tone.

"This European youth movement started with the Maidan. Young people in Kiev realised that they needed to do something for themselves and not depend not he Ukrainian government", says Dragina when interviewed by Vijay Maheshwari for Politico magazine.

"We were inspired by Moscow in the past but now we're moving closer to the Berlin style".

Usually held once a month, this lively market is held in the Chamber of Commerce during the colder months and in the Peyzahna Alley (BeZhe) in the summer months. Visitors are advised to check in on the markets Facebook page to confirm the exact location.
